Moving day is finally here. After weeks of planning and packing, it is time to execute. Here is a complete guide on how to handle moving day in Kenya so everything goes smoothly from start to finish.

The Night Before Moving Day

• Confirm your moving time with Dial and Move Kenya: 0726148038
• Pack your essentials bag - phone charger, toiletries, change of clothes, snacks
• Get a good night's sleep - moving day is physically and emotionally demanding
• Prepare payment - M-Pesa or cash as agreed
• Set an early alarm - be ready before the movers arrive

When Movers Arrive

• Greet the team and do a quick walkthrough of your home with the team leader
• Point out fragile items and any special handling instructions
• Show movers where items are going in the new home if possible
• Ensure parking is clear for the moving truck

During Loading

• Stay present and supervise - you do not need to micromanage but be available
• Keep valuables, documents, and important items with you personally
• Count boxes as they are loaded onto the truck
• Keep children and pets safely out of the way
• Offer the team water and a snack - it goes a long way

Before Leaving Your Old Home

• Do a thorough final walkthrough of every room, cupboard, drawer, and storage space
• Check the garden, balcony, and parking area
• Ensure all windows are closed and locked
• Turn off all lights, fans, and appliances
• Take meter readings for electricity and water
• Hand over keys to your landlord or agent

At Your New Home

• Direct movers on where each item goes - room by room
• Count boxes as they are unloaded
• Check large items for damage as they come off the truck
• Do a final check of the truck before the movers leave
• Pay movers as agreed - M-Pesa is quick and easy
• Get a receipt for your payment

After the Movers Leave

• Change the locks on your new home
• Check all utilities - water, electricity, gas
• Unpack your essentials bag and set up for the first night
• Take a breath - you did it!
