How Dial and Move Kenya Relocated Amref University & Kips College

Relocating a university or college is one of the most complex institutional moves a professional moving company can undertake. It involves lecture halls, libraries, laboratories, administrative offices, IT infrastructure, and thousands of individual items — all of which must be moved with precision, speed, and zero disruption to academic operations. Dial and Move Kenya has established itself as the leading specialist in university and college relocations in Nairobi, with two landmark institutional moves that demonstrate our capability at the highest level.

As the most trusted movers in Nairobi for institutional relocations, we are proud to share the stories of how we successfully relocated Amref University and Kips College — two of Nairobi's most respected academic institutions.

Case Study 1: Amref University – Langata Road to Northlands

The Client

Amref University is a leading health sciences university in Kenya, known for training healthcare professionals across Africa. The university needed to relocate its entire campus from its Langata Road premises to a new, purpose-built facility in Northlands — a significant long-distance institutional move across Nairobi.

The Challenge

The Amref University relocation presented extraordinary challenges. The move involved an entire university campus including lecture theatres, seminar rooms, administrative offices, a library with thousands of volumes, health sciences laboratories with sensitive equipment, IT infrastructure including servers and computer labs, student services facilities, and staff offices across multiple departments. The move had to be completed during a semester break to avoid disrupting the academic calendar. The distance from Langata Road to Northlands required careful logistics planning for multiple truck runs. Sensitive laboratory equipment required specialist handling and transport.

Our Approach

Dial and Move Kenya assigned a dedicated senior move coordinator to the Amref University project. We conducted a comprehensive pre-move survey of both campuses, developed a detailed room-by-room relocation plan, created a color-coded labeling system by department and room, coordinated with the university's IT team for server and computer lab relocation, arranged specialist transport for laboratory equipment, and deployed multiple trucks and crews over several days to complete the move within the semester break window.

The Result

Amref University's new Northlands campus was fully operational before the start of the new semester. Every department, laboratory, library, and office was set up and ready for use. Zero academic equipment was damaged. The university's IT systems were reconnected and tested before staff returned. As one of the leading moving companies in Nairobi for institutional moves, this relocation stands as one of our proudest achievements.

"Dial and Move Kenya handled our university relocation with exceptional professionalism and attention to detail. Our new Northlands campus was ready for students on day one. We couldn't have asked for a better moving partner." — Administration, Amref University.

Case Study 2: Kips College – 5 Floors from EABS Building to KTDA Plaza

The Client

Kips College is one of Kenya's most respected professional training institutions, offering courses in accounting, finance, and business. The college needed to relocate its entire operation — spanning 5 floors of the EABS Building — to a new premises at KTDA Plaza in Nairobi.

The Challenge

A 5-floor college relocation in Nairobi's busy CBD presented unique logistical challenges. The move involved 5 floors of classrooms, lecture halls, administrative offices, a library, computer labs, and student services. Elevator access in the EABS Building was limited and had to be carefully scheduled. The CBD location meant strict time windows for truck access and loading. The college had a large volume of furniture, IT equipment, books, and teaching materials. The move had to be completed during a holiday break to avoid disrupting student examinations and classes.

Our Approach

Our professional movers Nairobi team developed a floor-by-floor relocation strategy for Kips College. We assigned dedicated crews to each floor, coordinated elevator scheduling with building management at both EABS Building and KTDA Plaza, used a systematic labeling system to ensure every item was delivered to the correct room at KTDA Plaza, arranged early morning truck access to avoid CBD traffic, and completed the move in phases to maintain order and efficiency throughout the process.

The Result

Kips College's new KTDA Plaza premises were fully set up and operational before the start of the new term. All 5 floors of furniture, equipment, and materials were relocated without a single item lost or damaged. The college's computer labs were reconnected and tested before students returned. Staff praised the organization and efficiency of our team throughout the move.

"Moving 5 floors of a college in Nairobi's CBD seemed like an impossible task, but Dial and Move Kenya made it look effortless. Every classroom, office, and lab was set up perfectly at KTDA Plaza. Truly impressive." — Administration, Kips College.
